Description
Soya roving is a fiber made from soy protein. Soya roving is shiny, smooth, and strong fiber with a similar shine to silk. Good for spinning, blending and dyeing and to use as feature when felting with for example meervilt! wool.
Soybean fiber is made from the natural residue of soybean protein & from tofu manufacturing. This process is 100-percent natural and free of any petrochemicals, making it an extremely environmentally friendly product. Soya is a completely renewable resource & wholly biodegradable.
It is manufactured using new, cutting edge bioengineering technology by extracting proteins from the residual oils of soybean cake – a liquid “batter” is created and cooked, then the fiber is produced by wet-spinning and stabilized by acetylating. It is then cut into short staples & goes through a sort of thermoforming process then combed in to sliver.
