Description
Dewclaw (Lycopodium clavatum) Ground pines (E)
Family: Lycopodiaceae
Paints: Mordant/color enhancer
Wolf claw is not (yet) well known as a dye plant. Wolfclaw is a spore plant that stays green and grows on acidic, dry and nutrient-poor sandy soil.
It is used, among other things, as a mordant and to enhance the colors of other dyes. For example, it can enhance the blue of bluewood and paints it green together with kite.
