Description
The mulberry silkworm (Bombyx mori), bred in China and some other countries, spins a cocoon from a single silk thread of up to 1 to 2 kilometers in length. The thread is extremely thin and strong and has a beautiful shine. These cocoons are completely unprocessed; they are not cut open. So the dried up silkworm is still in it.
Usage
You can soak the cocoons in warm water, which will dissolve the silk glue and soften the cocoon. Then you can unwind the silk thread from the cocoon. You can paint the obtained thread with, for example, Dupont Classique wool/silk dye. You can spin or felt the dyed or undyed thread for a special effect. You can also paint the entire cocoon and, for example, process it into beautiful jewelry.
The cocoons are about 35 mm long and have a diameter of about 20 mm. Packed per 10 or 50 pieces.
