Mountain Sheep Felt 4mm

 0.31 80.33

Mountain Sheep needle felt is a very sturdy, approximately 4 mm thick felt. Available in a number of blended natural colors.

Mountain Sheep Felt is a needled felt that contains at least 90% wool from mountain sheep and up to 10% polyester. This product is developed for interiour design, home deco and accoustic purposes as well as other products that benefit from the more open structure of the felt. Compared to the 100% woolen felt it is more rough and more hairy in texture. It contains 90% New-Zealand wool and is perfectly thermoformable.

Description

Front- and backside

Mountain Sheep Felt has a front and back side. This is because the felt is needled on a polyester “belt” that transports the wool. This makes the front side more open, and the back (under side) more closed in structure. This needling on a polyester belt is also why the felt contains up to 10% polyester; the polyester from the belt slightly enters the felt. The effect of this is that the front side looks rougher, and the closed backside looks a bit shinier.

Gluing

Mountain Sheep Felt can be glued with contact glue (for instance our contact glue).

Thermoforming

It is also possible to thermoform the felt by shaping it around a base shape and placing it in the microwave. Through the heat the shape will be made permanent which lends itself to a surprising set of new projects, such as hats, slippers and other thermoformed projects!
