Festive Felt Bow

Have you found the perfect New Year's outfit, but feel like something is still missing? There's glitz, there's glamour, but it's just not quite there. Or are you keeping it simple and wearing your favorite sweater, but just feel like you want to add something special for the season? Keep reading because we have an easy DIY to add that little something extra to any outfit!

Yes, they are bow ties! A bow tie can really give an outfit a festive touch! Steal the show with this festive DIY bow tie made from our true felt. "How do I wear it?" we hear you thinking… Well, you can add a bow tie to almost anything, for example; On your collar, stick them on a barrette and put them in your hair, with a pin you can put them on your dress or shirt. There are so many ways to add a bow tie to your look! And you immediately look festive for New Year's Eve (or any party for that matter!)

Here's what you do:

Download and print the pattern. You can use leftover felt (or other fabric) to make this festive DIY bow tie, you don't need that much!

Step 1

Cut out all parts of the printed pattern.

Use pins to secure them to the felt.

You can start cutting right away or first with one erasable pen draw the lines on the felt. Then peel off the paper and start cutting the felt.

Step 2

Cut it felt (or whatever fabric you use) on the lines.

If you pinned the paper to the felt, take it off now. If you used the erasable pen, erase the lines.

Now it's time to put everything together!

Step 3

Fold the long piece with the two ends to the center and place them on top of the piece with the pointy ends.

You can use glue or a needle and thread.

Make sure, if you use glue, you do textile glue used and only a tiny bit (you don't want glue on your bow tie!)

If you use a needle and thread, you can pin everything back together so that they stay in the same place.

Step4

Tie the smallest piece of felt around the center of the bow tie and glue or sew it to the back of the bow tie.

At this point, also think about what you want to do with your bow tie. You can now add a barrette or a clip, a barrette or whatever to the back. This way you can attach it more easily to your clothes or in your hair!
